Clearance sale: Unless otherwise stated, this is a new product reaching the end of its life (EOL) with the brand and will therefore be removed from the catalog. Ideal for those who want to give a device that still has so much to offer one last chance!

Behind its minimalist design, the SMSL PA40 hides a surprisingly energetic temperament. Its Class D amplification, based on the MA5332MS chip, delivers tight bass, good dynamics, and a surprising level of control for a model in this category. The treble remains clean, the midrange retains excellent clarity, and the overall sound is neutral, reminiscent of the brand's more ambitious models.

Thanks to its electronic volume control and remarkably low background noise, the PA40 is very pleasant to live with on a daily basis — whether with a demanding pair of bookshelf speakers or small desktop speakers.

Technical details & operation

The SMSL PA40 is based on the Infineon MA5332MS amplifier chip, capable of delivering up to 160 W per channel into 4 Ω while maintaining very low distortion. Volume control is handled by an NJU7391A circuit, renowned for its precision and quiet operation.

The aluminum chassis ensures mechanical stability and heat dissipation, and the plated speaker terminals guarantee a reliable connection. The integrated equalization allows for subtle adjustments to the sound depending on the speaker and room, while the two gain levels optimize compatibility with speakers of varying sensitivity.
