Audio Garden's review

The first model in FiiO's modern series of portable music players, the M11 marked a turning point for the brand — and for portable audio in general. It combined, for the first time, an open Android system, a dual AKM DAC, and output power comparable to a dedicated headphone amplifier, all within a compact and luxuriously finished chassis.

From the very first listen, the M11 impresses with its clear and balanced sound reproduction: the bass is tight, the midrange expressive, and the treble beautifully refined. The wide and stable soundstage gives each recording a new dimension. It's a portable player that is both analytical and musical, capable of effortlessly driving demanding headphones while remaining perfectly silent with high-end in-ear monitors.

Thanks to its full compatibility with streaming services (Tidal, Qobuz, Spotify, etc.) and its LDAC / AirPlay wireless connectivity, the M11 establishes itself as a portable network player that is equally at home at home and on the go.

Note, however, that the player does not offer Apple Music support via the native application!

Technical details & operation

The FiiO M11 is based on two AKM AK4493EQ chips, operating in a symmetrical configuration. Its amplification stage, based on OPA926 modules, delivers up to 550 mW into 32 ohms, with an excellent signal-to-noise ratio.

The 5.15-inch IPS touchscreen (720p) offers a user experience similar to that of a smartphone. Powered by an Exynos 7872 processor and 3GB of RAM, the Android 7.0 system ensures a smooth, lag-free experience with direct access to music apps.

The chassis, machined from solid aluminum, houses two microSD ports (up to 2TB each), a 3800mAh battery offering approximately 10 hours of battery life, and a dual headphone output: 3.5mm asymmetric and 2.5mm symmetric.
